Therapeutic crying

Anybody ever feel like they need to have a good cry?

Just me? Great.

Well if I don't sound crazy enough already, every now and then I feel like putting in a movie that is a guaranteed tear-jerker and just letting loose. Sometimes I just want to cry. I find crying under these circumstances to be therapeutic.

3 year anniversary

As of today I have been married to my best friend for 3 years – wow!

I have to admit I had no idea how much I was missing until I found my best friend. Life is so much better with him by my side to share all of the ups, downs, and in betweens.

Rice cereal

Our precious girl had her first go at rice cereal last Tuesday night and it was everything we hoped it would be and more.

At our 4 month check up last Monday our pediatrician said that if we wanted we could try giving her rice cereal. If she liked it great, if not that was fine too, we should give it a week and try again. We decided to take it slowly since she won't be starting any other foods before she is 6 months old.

Instead of potentially wasting 3-5 oz of breast milk we opted to start with a small portion - 1 tsp of rice cereal and 1 oz of breast milk. I have to admit, we have our smart moments. Here's how it all played out:

Spring mantel

As of March 20th, spring is officially here and I am super excited!

Why? Spring means:
-house projects
-short-sleeves
-fresh flowers
-bare feet
-fresh fruit
-green grass

And this year will most certainly be my favorite spring yet because I get to experience it with our little girl!

In order to kick off the new season I updated our decor two weekends ago...

New flooring

We have had several discussions about getting wood or wood laminate flooring installed in the main areas (living room, hallways, and kitchen) of our home over the years. Every single one of them ended with the conclusion that we wouldn't do it because we most likely wouldn't get much of a return for them where we live. All of that changed in our discussion about the floors roughly 3 weeks ago.

If we had made this decision before Brynlee arrived then we most certainly would have installed the flooring ourselves, but with a little one around we opted to pay a little more to have someone else install them.

It took a week or two for the guy to get the ball rolling but last Wednesday we met with him, made our choices, put in the order and on Friday the installation was set to take place. I had a little over a day to figure out where to store things. I had it covered, or so I thought.

A tour of our kitchen

Sarah, aka Thrifty Decor Chick, is hosting a monthly linky party called Show Us Your House. This month fellow bloggers are sharing their kitchens so I thought I would join in since pretty much nothing looks the same in our house since we purchased it.

Our kitchen a month or two after we moved in: we painted the walls, added the backsplash, and added the hardware on the cabinetry.

4 months old

Sweetheart,

You are officially 4 months old! I have absolutely adored every second of the past month with you - what a fun stage you are in! I love love love that you're still little enough that you need to be held and carried around, but big enough that you hold your head up all of the time and are extremely aware of the world around you. It's truly the best of both worlds to get to hold you and watch the world through your beautiful little eyes. I could hold you, watch you, and kiss you forever.

The big 2-5

This past Saturday Peter turned 25. We both love to serve one another so I get extra excited for his birthday because it's a day he can't fight me serving him allll day long.

Brynlee woke up a little earlier than usual but it turned out to be wonderful because she fell asleep on Daddy and they took an early morning nap together before her first feed.

Once she was fed and back down I got to work making him cake batter pancakes. I found the recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. It's officially the birthday morning breakfast - so cute and extra special. Oh, and they're yummy!

Baby favorites at 3 months

I'm loving seeing what products other new mommies-to-be and mommies are choosing for their little ones so I thought I'd periodically update our latest finds and favorites. These products have been highly loved in our home from month 2 on.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature milk feeding bibs
These bibs are awesome, especially for bottle feeds. I mentioned in the setting our routine post that we've opted to have me pump during one feed a day while Peter feeds her pumped milk and these bibs are superb during those feeds because the "dribble catcher" causes the bib to sit right up against her neck keeping her skin and clothes dry. Perfect.
