7 months old

Sweet sweet girl,

Every day I fall more and more in love with you. From the moment I walk in your room in the morning to the moment Daddy puts you down to sleep you fill me up with joy, peace, happiness, and love. I absolutely love walking in your room in the morning (and after every nap) and seeing your beautiful beaming smile and hearing you squeal with delight. You melt my heart.
I simply cannot believe that another month has gone by in your little life. I look through the pictures on my phone daily and am blown away by how quickly you are growing. My eyes fill with tears just thinking about it. I am truly torn - I want you to stay little but there are so many things I want to see you experience. Trying to see life through your beautiful little eyes brings me such joy!

I am completely in love with your little personality. You have such an infectious smile and giggle (your squishy-face smile is our favorite!), your Daddy and I could just watch you all day long. You are quite the animated little girl! You have your little head on your shoulders, are quite independent and know what you want (and how to tell us when you aren't getting it). You absolutely adore your little family and we adore you!
You are absolutely adorable during your three solid feeds. You open your cute little mouth and look at us with your big blue eyes when you're ready for more, "plug up" when you aren't quite ready for another bite, and look away or make a little fuss when you're done. Your little personality just shines, especially when you are not a fan of a food.
Each morning we give you a new food, if you like it we try it for 3-4 days to make sure you aren't allergic and if you don't like it, we try it again to start the next day and if you still don't like it we move on. After an enthusiastic bite or two of a new food you know whether you like it or not. If you don't care for it you make a face and simply act like you have no idea it is time to eat. You don't close off your mouth, in fact you keep your mouth a little open, but you don't look at the spoon, the bowl, or us.

You loved rice cereal until you became a fan of oatmeal, then you decided the thick stuff was best. It did take you a while to like oatmeal, we actually started out by putting just a little bit in your rice cereal and then we slowly upped the amount of oatmeal in your bowl while decreasing the amount of rice cereal. Now you can't get enough oatmeal. It's definitely your favorite, but bananas are a close second. You can eat almost a whole banana during your afternoon feed. You also really like carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, pears, prunes (mixed with some oatmeal), corn and butternut squash. You aren't a fan of yogurt, broccoli, avocado, or beef. We'll try those again in a month or so.

You love playing with your toys these days, especially...
-You love your new Fisher-Price 1-2-3 Crawl Along Snail that Gramm got you off of our Target list.
-You love your Razbaby and MAM Twister teethers. They both are on your changing pad to help give you some comfort during diaper changes.
And of course you still love your bunny, green rattle Oball, exersaucer, Haba Kringelring, and any mirror.
You love song time with Mommy and Daddy more and more as time goes on. You have at least 10 songs that cause you to break into a gigantic smile whenever you hear them. A new favorite of yours is to be startled. I have absolutely no idea where you got this because I cannot stand to be scared and you simply squeal with delight when Daddy or I say "boo," pretend to drop you, or play peek-a-Brynlee.

Lately you've suddenly decided that diaper changes are no fun and you like to give a little grunt when we lay you down. We distract you by playing "where's Brynlee" with a burp cloth or your favorite teethers.

You've also become more and more aware of Butter and any time he races by he immediately has your attention, you'll follow him all around with your sweet little eyes. You two are precious together.
You move all over the place these days and had your first crawl on Friday (30 weeks and 1 day), which of course brought tears to my eyes. As I said earlier, you know what you want, so you wanted a toy and decided you didn't want to wait to get it (of course I was filming the whole thing). Seeing you rear up was just about the cutest thing I have ever seen and the look on your face as I was smothering you with kisses afterwards was priceless. It was as if you were saying, "Mom, please."

One of your latest tricks is turning off light switches. Mommy and Daddy always say "on" and "off" when turning on and off the lights and when we can we have you help us flop the switch. At 30 weeks you turned one off for the first time by yourself with Daddy! You also love helping get your bib off the back of the couch after a feed. It is one of the cutest things ever - you are quite the little helper!
As of yesterday (30 weeks 2 days) you started giving me kisses. They are the sweetest, most slobberiest, wonderful things ever. I love them!

We're still waiting on your teeth to come in. Your pediatrician thought they would come in soon after your 6 month appointment, but they haven't. Periodically we can tell that you are uncomfortable but you are quite strong and your sweet disposition shines through after a few seconds of fussing (and you get a cool teether in your little mouth).

One of my favorite things in the world is hearing Daddy tell you fairy tales before your bath. He is the best on-the-spot story writer ever and he always does such a wonderful job of incorporating your favorite things in the stories. It's a magical magical time and I love every second of it.

You had several adventures this month:
-You went to your Uncle Nathan's high school graduation. You were still worn out from getting your 6 month shots the day before, but you were a trooper and we were so incredibly proud of you!
-You met my step-family during a Memorial Day party at Gramm's house. You enjoyed seeing Daddy in the pool and meeting everyone (and you slept like a champ the next day).
-You met the Leydig family and enjoyed seeing the kids running all around the house.

You are the best company and we are so honored to get the chance to spend each day with you. You are the sweetest little thing we have ever laid eyes on and we love you more and more every day!
(I. Love. That. Squishy. Smile.)
