This year we attended the Rangers Opening Day game against the Chicago White Sox with our little Brynlee in hopes of making it a tradition. We had a wonderful time from start to finish.
We arrived early and had our own tailgating party in our car. It may have been a little different than the rest of the fans in the parking lot, but it was fun in its own way-we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I breastfed Brynlee. It was definitely a new parent's par-tay!
Side note: I had packed the diaper bag and gotten everything ready for the cooler the day before, but kept forgetting Brynlee's hat. Every time I remembered to pack her hat she was asleep in the nursery so I wasn't able to get it. In the end I forgot it so we stopped at Target so that I could grab one. I got so distracted by other things, every Target is a new treat to me, that I forgot to look at the size and ended up with a toddler hat. Way to go Mom! Oh well, it served its purpose and kept her protected from the sun.
Anyway, once inside the ballpark Brynlee fell asleep in my arms as we walked around and woke up when the B-1 bomber flew overhead and hung out for a little bit before she fell asleep in Peter's arms. After taking about an hour and a half long nap between Mommy and Daddy's arms she spent some time hanging out and posing for pictures. When it came time to eat we found a picnic table in the shade and gave her a bottle (of pumped milk and I just pumped when we got home). After the feed I braved the germs and changed her diaper in the bathroom (thank goodness for disposable changing pads to keep things as clean as possible for this germ-a-phobe mom), and then we found a shaded area to stand and watch the rest of the game.
In all she cried for about 20 seconds while we were at the ballpark and it was just because she wanted to be in a different position. Great thing about baseball games? Nobody even heard her cry, not even us, Peter felt her back vibrating!
I sat in the backseat with her on the way home in case she got fussy since we were going to be in stop-and-go traffic for a while until we got onto the highway, but she just played with me and then took a little nap.
I had a blast with my little family! Thank you Peter for letting us be your Opening Day dates!

Sounds like a great day! Love her onesie! Go Rangers!!!
