I've known since day one that I wanted us to choose a verse for our little one and display it in her room. I've also known that I wanted it to be made in such a way that it can grow with her and with her room decor.
The solution? Create an older looking piece that has a timeless feel.
I love these pieces on Pinterest and decided to create our own twist on them:
Supplies:
-Wood
-Fill-it strips
-Short screws (so that they won't poke through the front of the board)
-Wood glue
-Wood glue
-Sandpaper
-Acrylic paint
-Foam brush
-Stencil
-Tape
I used the Silhouette to print off our selected verse on cardstock to begin this project.

After I created the stencil, I knew how tall I wanted the board to be to fit the verse. So Peter cut 5 pieces of wood 10" wide each. This created a board that is 10" x 15" (because each fence picket is about 3" wide). He then used wood glue and small screws to connect the wood pieces to two pieces of fill-it strips, which he had cut to be 14" each. An 8' fill-it strip piece can be found for $0.97 a piece at Home Depot.
Once the board was done I taped the stencil to the sign and used the small round foam brushes (Spouncers) to paint the stencils.
Once dried I sanded over the words to make them look a bit more aged. (Before and after)
Peter put a hook on the back and it was ready to hang!
We couldn't be more pleased, it turned out even better than we had imagined!

I love this project! So happy I found your lovely blog. I've enjoyed looking around and I am a new follower.
