As I shared the other day, we had a couple's shower this past weekend. There were four hostesses in all: two girls I grew up with, one of their moms, and my mom. Seeing as I'm a crafter I couldn't just buy premade gifts for the lovely ladies who put so much time and effort into the celebration of our first little one, so I hit up Pinterest for inspiration. Here's what I created:
--I used my alphabet stamp and a $1 peachy/orangey ink pad (to match the nursery colors) to put "thank you" on all of the thank you cards for the guests.
--
For the two girls my age I decided to make rosette rings.
Supplies needed:
-Felt circles, you can also cut circles out of sheets of felt, but these were on major sale so I went for it
-Size adjustable rings
-Fabric
-Scissors
-Glue gun and glue sticks
Total cost of supplies: $5.37
Rosette tutorials can be found here from Craftaholics Anonymous and here from Kiki creates.Steps:
1. I created the rosettes.
2. I hot glued each rosette to a felt circle.
3. I hot glued each felt circle to a ring.
4. Done. :)

For the two moms I made recipe card holders, as seen over at Life's Sweeter with Chocolate here.
Supplies needed:
-Small candlesticks, they come in packs of 6
-Sander drill bit or a Dremel to shave the candlestick at an angle
-Clothespins
-Wood glue
-Spray paint
-Wooden nickels, come in packs of 6
-Jute
-Vinyl or stencil
Total cost of supplies: $3.05
2. I used wood glue to attach the clothespins to the candlesticks.
3. I spray painted the recipe holders and wooden nickels.
4. I hot glued jute around the wooden nickels.
5. I used wood glue to attach the wooden nickels to the recipe holders.
6. I put the vinyl monograms on. I opted to put them on the candlesticks, but putting them on the wooden nickel like Life's Sweeter with Chocolate is cute too.
The red one may or may not be for me. :)

I had two gifts items that each of the lovely ladies received and of course both ideas came from pins I came across on Pinterest. :)
Each lady received a monogrammed mug as posted by Design Mom here. Super easy, super cute, and I did it all for a great price!
Cost of supplies:
-Pebeo Porcelaine Pen in fine point: $6.37 from markersupply.com
-8 mugs: $5.11 from Goodwill, the other 4 will be saved for our other shower
-Graphite paper, already had
Total: $11.48 with tax and shipping
Annnd I only used 5 mugs (I dropped one while getting it out of the oven and cut my toe) and the graphite paper and pen will be used again for our other shower and birthday/holiday gifts!

The second gift was inspired by Tip Junkie's homemade scrub post from a while back. I looked through all 14 posts and decided to mix it up and use 2 of the 14 for this particular gift.
For the actual scrub mixture I followed By Stephanie Lynn's tutorial, which can be found here. I liked that it was a hand scrub. I have sensitive skin myself so I definitely didn't want to potentially make anything that could irritate someone's skin and since it's for the hands I figured it would be perfect in the kitchen. I bought plenty of ingredients so that I could make some more for our other shower and some family. Total cost of the supplies for this portion: $15.88 which can be used for at least 8 jars, if not more.
I Mod Podged scrapbook paper with the words "Made with love" written on it onto the little label indention on the jar to add a little somethin' somethin'.
For the label information I was inspired by Two Hearts Together's labels found here. I liked how it included the date made and scent. I punched out the shapes on cardstock with a hole punch and wrote the information on them, and tied them onto the jar with a spoon and a ribbon. I got a pack of 12 baby spoons at Dollar Tree for $1.00.
The cost of the monogram mug project: (of which all supplies can be used for the other shower)
$15.88 for the ingredients
$1.08 for the spoons
Total: $16.96 with tax
The total for all of the gifts:
Rings: $5.37
Recipe card holders: $3.05
Monogrammed mugs: $11.48
Homemade hand scrub: $16.96
Total: $37.76 (with about half of that being reusable)

Thankfully the sweet women who threw our shower loved their gifts and I loved that I got to put a little bit of "elbow grease" into our thank you gift. :)

i can't wait to make some of those rosette rings. thanks for sharing.
