Master bedroom closet

I had had enough.

I was truly tired of our makeshift closet storage system and was ready for a change, not in a month, but that day. Thankfully it didn't take much for me to persuade the Hubster to help me make my inexpensive dream closet come true. Don't worry, ultimately in my fantasy dream home the closet will have a built-in dresser island, but for now my heart is completely happy..until I get the urge to complete the next thing on our "to do before baby arrives" list.

Prior to our master closet makeover our closet looked like this:

A hodge-podge system that stored what we needed but was hideous to look at.

After getting about $65.00 worth of supplies from our favorite toy story, Home Depot, the Hubster got to work making his hormonal wife extremely happy. The $65.00 included MDF board, nails, L-brackets to attach it to the wall.

While the hubby built I repainted the closet and eventually the shelves. When we first bought our home I painted our closet a yellow-ish color we bought a gallon (or two, ugh!) of thinking it was what we wanted..once we realized it was irritatingly bright I decided we shouldn't waste it all and I painted a few small spaces. Needless to say, it was a waste of my time because a little over a year later I had to repaint it all. Boo.

But...it did allow for an awesome transformation!

A special thanks to my wonderful husband who made this happen in two days!!

  1. Looks great, Kristen! It's amazing what a few changes will do to lighten your mood! ;) My dream closet is a walk-in with a window, includes an antique dresser at the end, has wood floors, and is never messy. Oh...and everything is organized in pretty baskets & bins and all the clothes are hung on wood hangers. Hahha....dream on, Gail!
